The G25…

The latest gaming seats in combination with the Logitech steering wheels have revolutionalised racing games both on the PC and the Playstation 3.

Realistic driving positions offered by the gaming chair and the force feedback from the steering wheels have now made the racing games even more exciting.  Gone is the controller pad on the PS3 and the keyboard and mouse on the PC, drive like you are meant to drive!

The Logitech Driving Force GT and the Logitech G25 were given the once over on the VisionRacer simulator.

The “daddy” is certainly the G25, the quality of the wheel, gearshift, and pedals just about warrants its price tag, with the GT coming a close (but not close enough”) second, but well worth the money.  Having previously had a variety of other steering wheels on test I would certainly not go back to them having used theses Logitech steering wheels.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on the PS3 proved a worthy test bed for the wheels and with 2 VR3’s running with 24” LCDs along with good quality Logitech speakers (2.1 x230  multimedia) adding to the overall experience (don’t forget the sound effects!).

The experience was better on the PS3 than the PC, but I’m not getting into a war over which is best as we could go on for pages and pages and …..  The graphics on the particular setups that we had made this decision!

The wheels were also tried clamped to a table, after all we were testing the steering wheels not the VR3 and the experience has to be reported, it won’t take long as the VR3 with all peripherals mounted gives a much richer experience and a much more realistic feel for the game and the equipment, it plays better.

Starting on a tighter budget, you will not be disappointed with the GT wheel, and if you don’t experience the G25 you will continue to be happy with it, but when you do try the G25 then be prepared to spend again and rise to the next level!
